Great care has been given to choose only the best quality material, to adapt the ancestral home into a welcoming small luxury hotel with 20 units, all large and comfortable with Pratesi linen sheets and soft Turkish towels, each one with a view of the Agua Volcano.
Manuel Matheu Sinibaldi, considered as the pioneer of coffee production in Guatemala started planting coffee in 1864. He managed the farm La Felicidad in Finca Filadelfia that was owned by General José Martin Barrundia. Upon the death of General Barrundia, Manuel continued planting coffee as manager and legal representative of the General´s family who had moved to Mexico. The Barrundia family sold the farm around 1905, then in 1930 Manuel Matheu Ariza was finally able to purchase the farm. It has remained in the family ever since.
Two hundred fifty acres are planted with coffee and the balance is planted with forestry trees plus a natural ecological reserve at 8,000 feet above sea level. The farm processes coffee through what is known as the wet mill, dry mill and roasting and packing. There is the Cafetenangoa Restaurant, bird watching tours, mule rides, coffee tours and a beautiful canopy to enjoy the mountain.
