Aspen Hall Inn offers extraordinary rooms with private baths. Each room is tastefully and comfortably appointed with period antiques and reproduction furnishings and has cable TV and wireless internet access. The baths feature vintage fixtures. We are within walking distance of downtown restaurants, shops, & the train station. We serve great coffee, fresh juice, pastries, and hot & cold cereals daily in the breakfast room that is equipped with a microwave and a refrigerator. Economical weekly and monthly rates are available for our extended stay guests. Also a great site for weddings and meetings, Aspen Hall is situated on seven creekside acres with a gazebo, pergola, patio, and a bridge over the creek. Built of native limestone, this elegant mansion, circa 1750, is one of the most historic homes in our area. Its outstanding architecture has earned Aspen Hall the distinction of being "one of the finest Georgian period homes in the United States." Most of the original features of the 22-room house remain. The 13 x 38 foot grand hall still has its original 40-inch board-and-batten doors with their large strap hinges.

The farmstead was known as "Mendenhall's Fort" during the British, French & Indian War which started 250 years ago. George Washington attended a wedding here in 1761.

Civil War buffs will appreciate our border state location within easy striking distance of battlefield sites in Maryland and Pennsylvania to the north and Virginia to the south. Miles to: Shepherdstown, 10; Antietam, 15; Harpers Ferry (John Brown), 20; Winchester, 25; Cedar Creek, 35; Monocacy, 50; New Market (Md), 55; Gettysburg, 60; New Market (Va), 75.

Guests can relax on the brick patio or gazebo, or refresh their spirits by strolling Aspen Hall's grounds while listening to the peaceful babbling of the Tuscarora Creek as it flows under the footbridge. Full body Swedish relaxation massage is available by appointment with the resident Licensed Massage Therapist.

Charles S. Connolly is the innkeeper at Aspen Hall. He has strong interests in history and archeology, was an historical interpreter at Fort Frederick State Park in nearby Washington County, Maryland. Charlie recently sold Accent Printing & Copy Center after 26 fulfilling years in downtown Martinsburg. He is now a licensed massage therapist.
