The King’s Daughters Inn began a new chapter of its history in April 2009, after being transformed into a seventeen room boutique Bed & Breakfast. Built in the 1920’s with funds donated by the Duke family, The King’s Daughters Home provided dormitory-style housing for single, aging women. After closing its doors in 2006, new owners Colin and Deanna Crossman marshaled the 17,000 sf building through an extensive green renovation to create the luxurious inn that stands here today.

Overlooking the stately oak trees of Duke’s East Campus, The King’s Daughters Inn occupies an ideal location in Durham , NC - a short walk to Duke University, downtown Durham, Brightleaf Square, and 9th street; a short drive to Research Triangle Park, Raleigh-Durham Airport, and the new Durham Performing Arts Center. Though close to so many lively urban districts, it’s blends seamlessly into Trinity Park, one of Durham’s oldest, most established, most walkable urban neighborhoods. This location gives our Inn the feel of an urban retreat.

The King’s Daughters Inn offers the amenities of a first-class hotel with the intimacy of a B&B. Enjoy high-speed wireless internet throughout, ample event and meeting space, and spacious common areas for relaxing and socializing. Savor gourmet breakfasts, afternoon tea, and evening wine and scotch. Retreat to your room for our turn-down service with locally-made artisan chocolates and Port. Let our concierge share an insider’s opinions on the best restaurants and activities Durham has to offer...and then borrow one of our Flying Pigeon bicycles to get there in style!

No two rooms at the King’s Daughters Inn are alike. Crafted faithfully from the building’s existing layout, each guestroom or suite has a unique configuration and distinct character. Choose from a wide range of 1920’s styles – from Classic to Art Deco. Though each is distinct, all rooms feature the same full slate of amenities including luxurious robes, triple-sheeted beds, locally produced, all-natural toiletries, phones with personal voicemail, writing desks, flat-screen HDTVs, and individual climate control. You can just as easily connect with the world as tune it out.

Three wishes guided the transformation of the King’s Daughter Home into the King’s Daughters Inn: 1) protect and restore the historic architecture for future generations; 2) respect the environment; and 3) incorporate the most current technologies available. Historic preservation and green building practices are fully compatible because both rely on the lightest touch possible. Our commitment to both environmentally responsible building and living drove us to find creative ways to offer our guests sustainable lodging without sacrificing the warmth and charm of a historic inn, or the conveniences of a modern, luxury hotel. Please see our section on sustainable lodging to learn about the many innovative ways we’re saving resources.
