As of December 15, 2007 the Savoy has closed to undergo a £100 million restoration. The hotel will reopen in early 2009.
Opened in 1889, The Savoy occupies a splendid Edwardian building commanding a spectacular panorama of the river Thames and Embankment Gardens. Embracing the Tate Modern, the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and the London Eye, you can see up to eight bridges on a clear day. One of London's grand old hotels, it encapsulates a distinctive blend of traditional British style and heritage alongside creative innovation and an unrivalled reputation for service. The landmark entrance and interior are an explosion of neo-classicism, with a more art-deco feel to the rooms. Within easy reach of Trafalgar Square and Covent Garden, the pick of the city's theatre, ballet and opera are also on your doorstep.
