From the entrance dominated by countless single orchids to the cavernous lobby, a luxurious eastern ambiance permeates designer Anouska Hempel's shrine to minimalism. The Hempel's rooms also bear her minimalist trademarks with lots of beige, black and white touches. Each one has been individually designed and all have the expected facilities - fax machines, stereos, VCRs, minibars and TVs. The Japanese-style Garden Square is a sight for sore eyes while the acclaimed I-Thai restaurant should be able to feed you better than most other hotel restaurants. There are also two extremely chic bars. Although some hip jet setters reckon that the hotel has been surpassed by the likes of The Sanderson in terms of cool, it is still popular with the international fashion and sport glitterati.
