2008 Olympics brings New Hotel to Beijing

by Traders Hotel Beijing on Sunday, July 08, 2007

  • Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Asia Pacific?s leading luxury hotel group, today signed a management agreement with Beijing-based Super Shine Co. Ltd. to operate a new Traders Hotel, located on Xiao Yun Road, in Upper East Beijing. The Traders Hotel, opening early August 2008, in time for the Beijing Olympic Games, will be the group?s second Traders Hotel in the city.

The Traders Hotel will be conveniently located in the north east of Beijing?s Central Business District by the 4th Ring Road, and within 20 minutes drive of Beijing Capital International Airport.

Designed by Barcelona-based Ricardo Bofill, the hotel will feature 419 rooms with city views and a minimum room size of 33 square metres. The five-floor, 77-room Traders Club will offer a host of special amenities such as private meeting room, express check-in and check-out service, in addition to an exclusive club lounge for daily breakfast and evening cocktails.

The hotel?s dining and entertainment options will include a lobby lounge; café for all-day-dining; Chinese restaurant with 13 private dinning rooms over two floors; and sports bar.

There will be a total 2,000 square metres of meeting and function spaces and a business centre. Recreational facilities will include a health club, indoor swimming pool and spa with nine treatment rooms.

?We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with Super Shine Co. Ltd to introduce a second Traders hotel to Beijing, to complement our existing portfolio of hotels in the capital city, just in time for the world excitement of the Olympic Games,? said Giovanni Angelini, Shangri-La chief executive officer and managing director.

?We are delighted to partner with Shangri-La and in particular their Traders brand, given the huge potential of the four-star travel segment in China,? said Tang Jun, Board Chairman, Super Shine Co. Ltd.

Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts currently manages 51 hotels under the Shangri-La and Traders brands, with a rooms inventory of over 24,000. Traders Hotels are designed to satisfy the needs of the fast growing four-star, mid-market travel segment by offering a comprehensive range of facilities, and swift and friendly service, at competitive rates.
