Harry Potter Hotels

by Heather Holman on Saturday, July 21, 2007

  • In celebration of the new and final chapter of the Harry Potter Book which came out today, I thought I would do a post on all things Harry Potter, well all things hotel related anyway...

J.K. Rowling, the genius behind the books, finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows at the famous Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh, Scotland. “I was in a hotel room on my own, I was sobbing my heart out, I downed half a bottle of champagne from the mini-bar in one and went home with mascara all over my face,” Rowling, 41, said in a BBC interview about finishing the series. She allegedly left a hint to the book's ending signed somewhere in the hotel room.

From struggling single mom to one of the best selling authors of all time, Rowling's own life is quiet the fairytale. It's said J.K. Rowling now has more money then the Queen of England, allowing her to stay at such luxury hotels as Hazlitt's 1718 in London and North Island in Seychelles.

The Harry Potter movie sets are actually a combination of computer graphics and historic properties in the UK. The Alnwick Castle on Northumberland Estates has been used as the school of witchcraft and wizardry’s exterior, Hogwarts. While the inside of the school was filmed in Oxford University, Gloucester Cathedral and Lacock Abbey.

The star of the Harry Potter Movies, Daniel Radcliffe is coming in to his own celebrity status staying at such exclusive hotels as The Windsor in Melborne and The Waldorf=Astoria in New York City.

Warner Brother's Studio apparently loves Hyatt hotels -- putting up Daniel's co-stars, Emma Watson (Hermione Granger), Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) and Tom Felton ( Draco Malfoy) in Hyatts across the world for press conferences and autograph signings.

Some of the more famous members of the Harry Potter Movies Cast include Ralph Fiennes, Gary Oldman, Emma Thompson, and Helena Bonham Carter. All whom enjoy the comforts of extravagant hotels.
