Le Mélézin originally opened in 1956 as Le Savoy. Courchevel in those days was something of a Wild West town with resorts all vying with one another to offer the new and exciting sport of skiing. When Le Savoy opened, Courchevel was just 10 years old. In the early 1990s, the resort was entirely remodelled to echo the look and feel of a medieval Savoy fortress. It opened as an Amanresort in 1992. Inside, oak beams up to 200 years old now grace the classically patterned parquet flooring and lobby panelling. The main salon has an open fireplace, which enhances the après-ski ambience and there is a small, separate cocktail bar with stools as well as an intimate fumoir for smokers. Located on the Bellecôte slope, the resort is just 200 metres from the village centre and all its wide-ranging facilities from ski lifts to banks and shops.
