For 25 years, the fabled French Room at The Adolphus has provided unforgettable evenings for its patrons. In honor of our silver jubilee, we are asking past and future guests to submit their “most memorable evening in The French Room” for the opportunity to receive a $25,000 one-of-a-kind luxury experience.
Through July of 2007, French Room guests are invited to submit their “most memorable evening” in writing for the hotel's consideration. Each month, one guest memory will be selected as “best of the month” and will be posted on the hotel's website. Each month a winning entrant will receive dinner for two in The French Room and be placed in the running for the remarkable $25,000 “Memories” package. From the monthly winners, one will be selected the “best French Room memory” and awarded the ultimate gift, by noted food writer and editor, John Mariani, columnist for Esquire, Wine Spectator, Diversion, Bloomberg News & Radio, and Restaurant Hospitality.
The French Room's $25,000 “Memories” getaway includes the keys to The French Room for a very private evening and extraordinary dinner for ten, overnight accommodations for the winning couple in The Adolphus penthouse suite, a five day four night stay for two at Florida's fabulous Little Palm Island Resort & Spa (including breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, and more), with first-class travel on American Airlines, Dallas transfers via ultra-stretch limousine by Smith Limousine, Florida transfers, and a $1000 gift certificate to Tiffany & Co.

John Mariani is a columnist for Esquire, Wine Spectator, Bloomberg News and Radio, and Diversion. He is author of The Encyclopedia of American Food & Drink (Lebhar-Friedman), The Dictionary of Italian Food and Drink (Broadway), and, with his wife Galina, the award-winning new Italian-American Cookbook (Harvard Common Press). His newest book, written with his brother Robert Mariani, is a memoir of their years growing up in the North Bronx. It's called Almost Golden because it re-visits an idyllic place and time in their lives when so many wonderful things seemed possible. For those of you who don't think of the Bronx as “idyllic,” this book will be a revelation. It's about a place called the Country Club area, on the shores of Pelham Bay. A beautiful neighborhood filled with great friends and wonderful adventures that helped shape our lives. It's about a culture, still vibrant, and a place that is still almost the same as when the Mariani brothers grew up there. It is not yet available in bookstores, so to purchase a copy, go to amazon.com. You can subscribe to his widely read e-newsletter Mariani's Virtual Gourmet Newsletter at www.johnmariani.com.About John Mariani:
